Spanish rider was not fully satisfied after the Andalucia GP despite earning 40 out of 50 points after first two rounds of the World Championship.

Maverick Viñales took second place on the podium of the Andalusian Grand Prix . After losing second place on the first lap while tryin to overtake Quartararo, Maverick had to fight against his teammate throughout the race and overtake him on penultimate lap.

Viñales came in fifth during the race when he was overtaken by Pramac Ducati riders Miller and Bagnaia, who both have finished with a DNF [Miller crashet, Bagnia had a engine failure].

“Actually, in this race it was impossible to breathe. First of all, in the first lap I tried to overtake Fabio to get the clear track, because I felt very strong with the bike, but then I went wide and Fabio and Vale overtook me. Then I was stuck behind Vale, and I couldn‘t breathe most of the laps, I was destroyed” – said Vinales for the Official Yamaha Team.

“I don‘t know why, maybe because of the heat coming from the other bikes, but I couldn‘t do more. I was saving something for the last five laps, and I pushed at the end when I had a good rhythm again. I mean, today I lost it in the first lap, if not it would have been a much better race.”

Speaking about the title fight Vinales feels he had made a great start of the season, being on 2nd place with just 10 points less than Fabio Quartararo.

“I was giving my best to overtake Valentino because it was extremely important to take these 20 points for the championship and eventually I did it. I am very motivated for Brno GP, we know what we need to change on the bike. For me it was two perfect weekends, two 20 points in Jerez is really good for me because I normally struggle here but the team has done a good job.
