Petronas’ team principal Razlan Razali jokes on Rossi’s podium after Andalucia GP
Although nothing has yet been officially confirmed, as Valentino said, it’s 99,9% done deal between the nine-time World Champion and Petronas Yamaha SRT for the next season. This time there is another “confirmation” from the leader of the SRT, Razlan Razali, pointing in that direction, which makes us believe Valentino will for sure ride for the Malaysian team in 2021.
After last Sunday’s race in Andalucia, the Malaysian Official told BT Sport microphones:
‘If he keeps his performance, especially the one of this weekend, it will be great for the team: he will be what we call our new rookie for 2021’. – Razali joked.
Recall that Rossi is 41 years old an has a strong connection to Yamaha, which when he decided not to renew for 2021 made him a motorcycle to compete in the satellite team – at the time, Il Dottore was still undecided about his future, which he could spend for the end of career.
Valentino Rossi was satisfied with the results of the Andalucia GP, saying that it almost feels like a victory.
“I’m very, very happy because it’s been a long time, after a very bad period and bad results. So this weekend we started to work in a different way and I’m very happy with my whole team.”
“We did a good job and I was able to do some good laps and a good start. Afterwards, the race was very long! But I am very happy! Getting back on the podium today, for me it’s not like a victory but it’s similar.”
“The podium is really special because we were coming from last week’s bad weekend,” he said. “But it was not just last week, it was the majority of 2019 apart from the two podiums at the beginning of the season. I always have the same problem – sometimes its better but I did some bad races [too].”
