After losing the podium in the last turns of the last lap to Joan Mir, Valentino said he was happy with his speed during the San Marino GP, but feels “bad” not to finish on the podium
Rossi after 4th place in Misano: “It would have been nice to celebrate with Bagnaia and Morbido, but I made a mistake in the end and Mir passed”. Then he jokes: “Many of my students win: with the VR46 we did too good a job, it’s time to say enough”
Valentino Rossi smiles, but is embittered by the 4th place of the San Marino GP in Misano, with a vanished podium only in the last lap, passed by Mir at the Sunset corner.
“It was a great shame not to be able to get on the podium: together with Bagnaia and Morbidelli it would have been a great celebration – says Valentino – I was sorry that Mir overtook in the end, but it was still a great race”.
Rossi believes that tyre choice (medium) has nothing to do with his result: “We focused on the double medium compound, risking a little, but in the end it’s It was the right one – explains Vale – In the end I made some mistakes.”
“I had too much engine brake, which made the rear tire suffer a little and at the Sunset corner, on the last lap. I left the door open and Mir came through, but we have to improve on some points for the next race here.”
VR46 TO BE CLOSED…
“In the race when they passed me I wondered who had made me open the Academy, but I can only blame myself. Now, however , after Marini-Bezzecchi’s double in Moto2 and Morbidelli-Bagnaia in MotoGP, I have to close VR46 – Rossi jokes.
“Morbidelli? He was good at managing the hard front, if I had stayed with him we could have done first and second: his success is sensational.”
“We helped him because he seemed to be heading towards Superbike and we directed him to the world championship, but he put his part in it and he deserves it. “
